First leg of this trip is a visit to Ibra, gateway to Sharqiya region, with its many watchtowers on the surrounding hills which pay tribute to its past strategic importance.   Ruins of grand fortified houses and forts abound.  A testimony to its past close trading links with East Africa is the falaj system, financed by influential merchants residing in Zanzibar.

The tour then proceeds with an off-road driving at Wadi Bani Khalid, one of the largest wadis in Oman, nestled deep in the mountains, where water cascades down the gorge forming cool blue-green pools, fed by underground streams flowing from within the surrounding limestone hills, providing perfect landscape for a picnic lunch.

Next stop in this adventure tour is a bit of dune bashing at Wahibah Sands – a desert with rolling dunes and shifting sands – magnificent with changing colors.  This is the traditional home of the Bedouin, hardy, spirited people who have lived generations after generations in these harsh desert conditions.  What better way to get a glimpse of their way of life and end the tour than to personally visit a Bedouin family.  Return to hotel.
